NEWS RELEASE
Port Hope Legion and RBC Dominion Securities Lead the Way in the
4th Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning
August 9, 2010
Northumberland County - The Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce that $41,267 was raised during the 4th Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning event. With more than 50 coffee parties held across west Northumberland, guests and their hosts enjoyed laughter and fellowship, while making donations toward the purchase of new medical equipment for the Emergency Department of the Northumberland Hills Hospital.
Foundation Executive Director Rhonda Cunningham is thrilled with the final results for Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning. "This result would not have been possible without an army of supporters, volunteers, sponsors and of course - the very generous attendees," says Mrs. Cunningham. "We are especially pleased with the grassroots support from the Port Hope Legion and RBC Dominion Securities in Cobourg." Through the Poppy Fund, members of the Port Hope Legion donated $5,000, while the clients of Lynn Hardy and Patrick Houlihan donated over $9,600 at the RBC Dominion Securities "coffee party" held at Harden & Huyse.
Organizers are also pleased with the support shown by the Port Hope Fire Fighters Association who raised $1,300 during at "Fill the Boot" Event at Davis' Independent and Gilmer's Home Building Centre in Port Hope in June.
In the past three year's, Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning has raised $220,000 for the hospital.
This year's event was held in honour of Alf Blything and Jim Boughen and this success is a great tribute to their dedication and support of the west Northumberland community.
Special thanks to the sponsors of this year's event Sabic Innovative Plastics, Bright Ideas Design, Lakefront Utilities and Cobourg Internet.

Let's all meet for One Big Coffee Morning and make a difference.
On June 15, 2010, we invite you to take part in this easy, fun, sociable way to raise funds for the purchase of new medical equipment for NORTHUMBERLAND HILLS HOSPITAL.
A great excuse to meet up with friends, spend a few minutes with colleagues, family members and neighbours, in a place of your choosing, and invite them to make a donation to the hospital.
This year's Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning will be held in memory of long time Port Hope Fire Chief Jim Boughen and local artist Alf Blything. Both Jim and Alf were dedicated supporters and volunteers of their community.
Sadly, both men passed away in 2009. Both in their early 70's.

Organizers of Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning have spoken to Jim and Alf's widows and they are very supportive and pleased that this year's coffee morning event will be in their honour.
