Final Total Announced for the
3rd Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning

July 24, 2009

Northumberland County - It's official. Organizers of the 3rd Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning have confirmed that $49,477 was raised during this year's event. With almost 100 coffee parties held across west Northumberland, guests and their hosts enjoyed laughter and fellowship, while making donations toward the purchase of new medical equipment for the Northumberland Hills Hospital.

Event spokesperson Ferne Dobson is thrilled with the final results for Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning.

"This result would not have been possible without an army of supporters, volunteers, sponsors and of course - the very generous attendees," says Ms. Dobson. "The event was held in honour of Nick Hathway and Bob MacCoubrey and the success of this year's event is a great tribute to their dedication and support of the hospital."

In the past three years, Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning has raised $180,000 for the hospital.

Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning
Continues to Percolate

For Release, June 10, 2009

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY - Final planning is underway for the event that has everyone talking. On Tuesday, June 16th, the third Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning will take place in private homes, businesses, church halls, community centres, coffee shops and restaurants as people enjoy fellowship while raising funds for the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.

This year's event is extra special as it is being held in honour of Bob MacCoubrey and Nick Hathway.

Both Bob and Nick were instrumental community leaders who gave generously of their time, talents, and resources. The hospital was blessed to be the beneficiary of their expertise for many years. Sadly, both men passed away within days of each other in December, 2008. Both men also enjoyed social gatherings and were supportive of Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning.

The organizing committee is pleased to report that to date 89 "coffee mornings", with upwards of 3,000 guests, have registered for Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning. It's estimated on June 16th over 5,000 cups of coffee will be poured to raise funds for the purchase of high priority medical equipment for the Northumberland Hills Hospital.

"It's a great excuse to meet up with friends, spend a few minutes with colleagues, family members or neighbours, in a place of your choosing, and invite them to make a donation towards the hospital," says organizing committee spokesperson Ferne Dobson.

There are several scheduled "coffee mornings" open to the public, including, The Human Bean, Gourmet Coffee Shop, Meet at 66 King, Lakefront Utilities, RBC Dominion Securities at Harden & Huyse Chocolates and Vital Aire. Northumberland MPP Lou Rinaldi, Cobourg Mayor Peter Delanty and Port Hope Mayor Linda Thompson are also hosting "coffee mornings" at their offices. For a complete listing of the public "coffee mornings" visit the Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning website at www.nhhcoffee.ca.

Since it began in 2007, Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning has raised more than $131,000 for the hospital.

to Honour Two Outstanding Volunteers

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY - Northumberland County residents will once again have the opportunity to raise their coffee mugs in support of the Northumberland Hills Hospital.

On Tuesday, June 16, 2009, Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning - a county-wide fund-raiser - will have hundreds of people getting together with friends, family, and colleagues, to enjoy a cup of coffee and make a donation towards the hospital.

This year's event is extra special as it is being held in honour of Bob MacCoubrey and Nick Hathway.

Both Bob and Nick were instrumental community leaders who gave generously of their time, talents, and resources. The hospital was blessed to be the beneficiary of their expertise for many years. "Hosting a coffee morning is fun and easy," said Ferne Dobson, Coffee Morning event spokesperson. "Simply invite some guests into your home, church, school, community centre, lunch-room, or any other place of your choosing. Serve some coffee and maybe a few sweets, and in return guests make a donation to support the purchase of new medical equipment for the hospital."

Since it began in 2007, Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning has raised more than $131,000 for the hospital.

A new feature of this year's event is the Donation Card Campaign. Beginning very soon, shoppers visiting several local coffee shops, retailers and businesses will be invited to purchase a Northumberland's Biggest Coffee Morning Donation Card for $2. They will be encouraged to add their name to a wall of cards in support of the hospital. A list of participating businesses is available at www.nhhcoffee.ca.
